Social Experiment

I think that the video "Social Experiment" will be to do with people because social means to socialise or to interact with another person. I also think that there will be people being tested on something because to experiment, means to undertake a study and to make a conclusion on the results you get.

Aim
To find out how people will react to a speaker saying compliments and insults. √

Hypothesis
I think that people will stay longer when a compliment is said and when an insult is said people will get mad or walk away. √

Equipment √
- Speaker
- A busy street
- microphone
- Video camera

Method √
1. Place your speaker in a busy street where heaps of people are likely walk by.
2. Hide yourself in a place where people won't see you and bring your microphone with you.
3. Now as someone walks by say either a compliment or an insult through your microphone.
4. Now start recording on your video camera the reactions of passers by.

Results √
I found that more people reacted to the insults. The reason is because people are bothered by people insulting them so they probably want to know what's going on as they did nothing wrong. Most people just smiled and kept walking when a compliment was being said though. The reason for this is because people enjoy being complimented and don't really need to react as it doesn't bother them.

Conclusion √
Overall I found that it doesn't matter if you are seen or not when you say something insulting as people still feel hurt. I also found that people really feel better and good about themselves when someone says a compliment to them and that it could really change their day.
